Job Purpose:
To assist the maintenance team in ensuring all food processing equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure are maintained in good working condition, meeting FSSAI, GMP, and food safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of food processing machines, packaging lines, conveyors, and utilities (boilers, compressors, refrigeration units, etc.).
Support in calibration and adjustment of equipment to maintain production quality standards.
Help in installation, dismantling, and relocation of machinery and production lines.
Ensure lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of machine parts are done as per SOPs.
Food Safety & Compliance
Maintain equipment in clean and hygienic condition to avoid contamination risks.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during all maintenance work.
Use only food-grade lubricants and approved materials in food-contact areas.
Prevent cross-contamination by following proper tool cleaning and storage procedures.
Ensure maintenance records are updated and readily available for FSSAI and third-party audits.
Safety & Documentation
Wear PPE and follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before starting work.
Immediately report any equipment defect, hazard, or potential food safety risk.
Keep the maintenance workshop clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory for critical food processing equipment.
Qualifications & Skills:
ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation.
0–1 years of maintenance experience in a food or FMCG manufacturing facility.
Basic knowledge of food industry hygiene requirements.
Familiarity with HACCP principles is an added advantage.
Ability to work in shifts and respond to urgent breakdowns.
Good teamwork, attention to detail, and record-keeping skills.
Work Environment:
Exposure to food processing areas with controlled hygiene conditions.
Work may involve hot, cold, wet, or noisy environments.
Requires adherence to strict food safety protocols at all times.
Performance Indicators:
Equipment uptime and reduced production downtime.
Compliance with FSSAI/GMP maintenance standards.
Accuracy and completeness of maintenance logs.
Zero contamination or safety incidents caused by maintenance activities
