Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and organized School Librarian to manage and oversee the school’s library resources and services. The role involves fostering a reading culture, supporting research and learning, and ensuring effective management of the library in alignment with the school’s academic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library.
Organize, classify, and catalog library resources including books, journals, and digital content.
Assist students and teachers in locating and effectively using library resources.
Promote reading habits and encourage use of the library through programs, clubs, and activities.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of library resources and manage procurement of new materials.
Ensure proper usage, care, and return of library resources.
Guide students in research and reference work, both print and digital.
Implement library policies, systems, and technology tools (like library management software).
Create a welcoming and engaging library environment.
Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science (B.Lib.Sc) or Master’s degree in Library Science (M.Lib.Sc).
Proven experience as a librarian, preferably in a school environment.
Strong knowledge of library management systems, cataloguing, and classification.
Passion for reading and promoting literacy among students.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students.
