Godown Keeper Job Description

A godown keeper, also known as a storekeeper or warehouse keeper, is responsible for managing and organizing inventory within a warehouse or godown. They ensure accurate record-keeping, oversee stock levels, and facilitate the smooth flow of goods in and out. Their responsibilities include receiving and verifying goods, maintaining inventory records, monitoring stock levels, picking and packing orders, and ensuring timely deliveries.

Responsibilities:

 Design and implement an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory control procedures.

 Purchase entry in system and Book.

 Filling as per Vendor file

 Payment Entry

 Kitchen issue entry in system and Book.

 Examine the levels of supplies and raw material to determine shortages.

 Document daily deliveries and shipments to update inventory.

 Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments.

 Evaluate new inventory to ensure it’s ready for Issue

 Perform daily analysis to predict potential raw material stock problems.

 Order new stock to avoid inefficiencies.

 Analyse different suppliers to obtain the best cost-effective deals.

 Recruit and train new employees.

 Manage stock control and reconcile with usage in system.

 Prepare monthly usage & wastage report.

 Recruit, select, orient, coach and motivate employees.

 Organizing and maintaining inventory and storage area.

 Measuring and reporting the effectiveness of godown activities and employee’s performance.

Requirements:

 Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or relevant field.

 A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

 Solid knowledge of data analysis, inventory management software, and forecasting techniques.

 An analytical mind with strong attention to detail.

 Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.

 Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

 Ability to input, retrieve and analyse data.

 Strong organisational and time management skills.

 Employees should know how to handle complaints and conflicts professionally and efficiently.
