Job Summary:

The ICU Nurse provides critical care to patients with life-threatening conditions. Working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, the ICU Nurse is responsible for closely monitoring patients, administering treatments, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients in the Intensive Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess critically ill patients, recording vital signs and observing for any changes in condition.

• Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and life-saving treatments as prescribed.

• Operate and monitor critical care equipment (e.g., ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps).

• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.

• Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations, including Code Blue and Rapid Response calls.

• Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding care plans and procedures.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient’s electronic medical record (EMR).

• Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

• Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN); BSN preferred.

• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State]; BLS and ACLS certification required.

• Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in critical care or ICU preferred.

• Skills:

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage high-stress situations

  • Proficient with ICU medical equipment and EMR systems

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift or move patients and equipment as needed

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending

• Capability to work long shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays when required
