Role & Responsibilities:
A diesel mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered forklifts. In the service industry, this often means working with companies that rely on heavy lifting equipment for logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or construction.
Key duties:
Diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.
Servicing diesel engines (oil changes, filter replacements, etc.).
Repairing brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, and steering systems.
Performing routine inspections.
Keeping service records and logging all maintenance performed.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
Experience with diagnostic tools and mechanical hand tools.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
