Role Objective

To execute MIG/FCAW welding on stainless steel girders (stiffeners, splice plates, diaphragms) as per approved WPS and fabrication drawings, ensuring quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Weld SS girder components using MIG/FCAW as per WPS and weld plan
• Perform root, intermediate, and capping passes in correct bead sequence.
• Prepare joints by cleaning, brushing, and ensuring edge quality before welding
• Use proper wire, shielding gas, and current/voltage settings as per procedure
• Monitor interpass temperature between passes to maintain weld integrity
• Minimize spatter, undercut, and other defects using a controlled technique
• Collaborate with fitters/helpers for joint readiness; weld only after joint verification
• Interpret and follow welding symbols on fabrication drawings
• Coordinate with QA/NDT for weld inspection and acceptance
• Maintain welding tools, check gas/wire feed, and report faults

Candidate Requirements-

Education

ITI – Welder (MIG/FCAW) or 10th + certified MIG/FCAW course

Certification

Valid WQT as per WPS (IRS/ASME/IS codes)

Experience

2–5 yrs in SS/CS girder welding

Process Exposure

MIG/FCAW in 1G, 2G, 3G positions

Drawing Literacy

Welding symbols, bead sequence, joint prep
