AG & UG Piping Fabrication Supervisor / Engineer
Lead and manage the fabrication of above-ground (AG) and underground (UG) piping systems in the fabrication yard/shop, ensuring compliance with design specs, quality standards, safety norms, and project schedules. Coordinate with engineering, QA/QC, planning, and site execution teams to maintain seamless fabrication workflow.
Study and interpret piping isometrics, spool drawings, GADs, and material take-offs (MTOs).
Plan and schedule daily and weekly fabrication activities for both UG and AG piping systems.
Supervise cutting, bevelling, fit-up, welding, and spool numbering/tagging.
Oversee material issuance, heat-number traceability, and maintain detailed documentation of fabricated spools.
Coordinate fabrication output with loop-wise erection planning and site installation sequences.
Maintain fabrication logs, weld maps, and productivity reports for AG and UG spools.
Ensure fabrication meets HSE norms in yard/shop—conduct safety checks and enforce PPE usage.
Identify unsafe acts or conditions and initiate corrective/preventive actions.
Facilitate clear communication among fabrication, QA/QC, planning, and field teams; resolve technical and logistical issues.
Diploma (Mechanical/related) or B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical or similar.
In-depth knowledge of piping fabrication processes: isos, spools, GADs, MTOs, fit-up, welding.
Familiarity with WPS, ASME B31.3 standards, welding procedures, and QC protocols.
Proven leadership and team coordination capabilities; strong problem-solving skills.
Well-versed in documentation: MTOs, weld records, fabrication logs, productivity tracking.
Proficient in HSE practices and yard/shop safety regulations.
Good computer skills—MS Office, fabrication scheduling tools.
Diploma holders with 7 to 10 years of experience can expect a salary between ₹5 to ₹8 lakhs per annum.
B.Tech / B.E. graduates with 5 to 10 years of experience can expect a salary between ₹6 to ₹9 lakhs per annum
