As a production manager, you'll need to:

1. Plan and draw up a production schedule

2. Manage production resources, including equipment and facilities, decide on and order the required resources and ensure stock levels remain adequate

4. Ensure that the production will be cost effective by estimating costs and negotiating and agreeing budgets with both clients and managers

5. Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed

6. Set and enforce the quality standards\

7. Monitor productivity rates and product standards and implement quality control programmes

8. Take responsibility for the maintenance of equipment, conduct regular inspections and organise the repair of any damaged equipment

9. Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times and that any concerns are addressed immediately

10. Liaise across teams and departments to ensure a smooth and efficient production process, making sure everyone is aware of any process changes and improvements

11. Ensure customer orders are completed on time and to budget and that quality standards and targets are met

    identify opportunities to improve processes to increase productivity, for example through lean manufacturing, and reduce costs, work with managers to ensure that production strategies align with the company's policies and goals

12. Collate and analyse data, putting together production and performance reports for both factory managers and customers

13. Supervise and motivate a team of workers
