Act as the main point of contact between the buyer and the company.
Understand buyer requirements, specifications, and timelines.
Communicate order details clearly to internal departments (sampling, production, fabric, trims, etc.).
Manage order follow-ups, approvals, and buyer feedback efficiently.
Coordinate with design and sampling teams for proto, fit, and pre-production samples.
Ensure timely development of samples as per buyer requirements.
Follow up for approvals on fabric, trims, print, embroidery, and color standards.
Maintain a development calendar and ensure adherence to deadlines.
Prepare detailed cost sheets including fabric, trims, labor, and overheads.
Negotiate prices with buyers and suppliers to achieve target margins.
Get buyer confirmation on prices, quantities, and delivery schedules before bulk production.
Coordinate with the production, fabric, and quality teams for smooth order execution.
Monitor fabric and trims sourcing, ensuring timely availability of materials.
Track production progress against the Time & Action (T&A) plan.
Resolve any production or quality issues promptly.
Ensure all pre-production approvals are completed before bulk start.
Work with the QA team to maintain buyer quality standards.
Handle buyer inspections and audits when required.
Follow up with logistics and documentation teams for on-time shipments.
Review shipping documents (packing list, invoice, etc.) for accuracy.
Ensure dispatches are made as per buyer schedule and compliance requirements.
Guide and supervise junior merchandisers and assistants.
Train team members on buyer requirements, order tracking, and reporting.
Support management with reports, analysis, and process improvements.
Strong understanding of garment production processes (knit/woven/denim/etc.).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with buyers and suppliers.
Proficient in Time & Action (T&A) and order tracking.
Sound knowledge of fabric, trims, printing, and embroidery techniques.
Strong analytical and costing skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP, or merchandising software.
Ability to handle multiple buyers/orders simultaneously.
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Team leadership and cross-department coordination skills.
