Duties and responsibilities
Sample collection and preparation: Collect samples of raw materials (aggregates) and finished granite slabs for testing. Prepare these samples for analysis using standardized procedures.
Quality control testing: Conduct a variety of tests on the granite samples to measure their physical and chemical properties. These may include:
Physical testing: Evaluate strength, density, and resistance to wear and tear.
Chemical analysis: Check for compliance with specifications and identify impurities.
Equipment maintenance and calibration: Operate, clean, and maintain lab equipment, such as testing and measuring instruments. Calibrate equipment regularly to ensure accurate results.
Data entry and analysis: Record all test data and results meticulously in a specified format, which may include electronic systems. Analyze the data and interpret findings to determine if products meet quality standards.
Reporting: Prepare detailed reports summarizing test results and observations for lab management and other departments, such as production or quality assurance.
Non-conformance investigation: Identify and report out-of-specification results and assist in investigations to determine the root cause of quality issues.
Safety and compliance: Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ensure proper storage and disposal of chemicals and samples.
Process improvement: Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and help implement corrective actions to improve the manufacturing process.
