Fondant Artist Job Description
Role: Fondant Artist / Cake Decorator – Specialty Bakery
Key Responsibilities:
Design, create, and decorate cakes and pastries using fondant (smooth sugar paste) for birthdays, weddings, events, and custom orders.
Specialized work in fondant: modeling, sculpting, creating flowers, animal/human figurines, and covering cakes with fondant for smooth finish.
Decorate cakes with buttercream, ganache, whipped cream, and other mediums as required.
Collaborate with pastry team to plan themes and develop new cake designs.
Ensure consistency and high standards: create visually appealing, creative, and on-trend cake decor.
Adhere to food safety and hygiene requirements; maintain clean and organized workstation.
Assist Head Decorator or manager, fulfill daily bakery needs, participate in large/bulk or event orders.
Advise clients on design options, budget, and feasibility.
Support inventory management, ingredient preparation, and workspace setup.
Requirements:
1+ years of experience specializing in fondant cake decoration; Diploma/Pastry Course preferred.
Excellent artistic ability, creativity, and attention to detail.
Skilled with cake decorating and modeling tools.
Knowledge of latest cake trends, coloring, and edible accessory techniques.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Physical stamina and ability to remain upright for extended periods; manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
Salary Range: ₹18,000 – ₹30,000 per month (depends on experience, location, employer policy).
Work Hours: Typically full-time (rotational shifts, weekends possible).
Preferred: Portfolio of previous fondant cake work, food safety certification.
