The Commis 1 – Continental Cuisine is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with kitchen standards. The role includes assisting senior chefs in daily operations, especially focusing on Continental dishes such as pastas, steaks, grills, and sauces.
Prepare and cook a variety of Continental dishes such as steaks, grilled meats, pasta, salads, sauces, etc.
Follow standard recipes and plating techniques to ensure consistency and presentation quality.
Assist Chef de Partie and Demi Chef in food preparation and mise-en-place.
Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
Monitor food stock and report shortages or spoilage to supervisors.
Ensure proper storage and labelling of all food items.
Comply with all food safety and hygiene standards as per HACCP guidelines.
Work efficiently under pressure and manage time effectively during busy service hours.
Stay updated on new menu items and preparation methods.
Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries when required.
Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a similar role (Continental kitchen preferred).
Basic knowledge of Continental cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
Culinary diploma or certificate is an advantage.
Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
Passion for food and attention to detail.
Good communication and time management skills.
Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
