The Purchase Executive cum Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's procurement strategy and daily purchasing operations. The role involves strategic sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This is a hybrid position that requires both hands-on execution and high-level strategic planning.
Key responsibilities
Strategy and management: Develop and implement innovative and cost-effective procurement strategies that align with company goals.
Design, implement, and maintain purchasing policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Manage and forecast the procurement budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Lead complex negotiations with key suppliers to secure the most advantageous terms and pricing.
Sourcing and vendor management:
Identify, evaluate, and qualify new and existing suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability criteria.
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews to ensure compliance with service level agreements and quality standards.
Resolve any supply, quality, service, or invoicing issues with vendors in a timely maner.
Manage the day-to-day procurement process, including creating purchase orders and tracking delivery schedules.
Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., operations, finance, marketing) to understand their specific purchasing needs and specifications.
Ensure timely delivery of procured goods and services, and expedite urgent requirements as needed.
Maintain meticulous records of all purchases, pricing, and vendor performance for audit purposes.
Inventory and reporting:
Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, key metrics, and cost savings to senior management.
Conduct cost analyses and spending reviews to identify further opportunities for optimization
Required skills and qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
5+ years of experience in a procurement or purchasing role, with a demonstrated track record of negotiation and strategic planning.
Proven ability to manage both the tactical and strategic aspects of procurement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Solid knowledge of supply chain procedures, legal compliance, and contract management.
