Roles and
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings for computer enclosures, brackets, bezels, and moulded plastic components.
• Work on sheet metal designs involving laser cutting, panel bending, punching, and assembly structures for PC cabinets and subframes.
• Design plastic injection moulded parts such as front panels, bezels, fan mounts, and decorative trims considering tooling feasibility and aesthetics.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to ensure compatibility between mechanical design and electronic components (motherboards, power supplies, cooling systems, etc.).
• Create manufacturing drawings with proper GD&T, material specifications, and fabrication notes.
• Support prototype development, validation, and modifications during the design verification phase.
• Work with vendors and toolmakers for panel bending and mould development, providing design clarifications and reviewing tooling feedback.
• Optimize existing designs for mass production, assembly efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Prepare BOMs (Bill of Materials) and maintain design documentation and revision control.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure adherence to company design and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Production / Tool Design Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in SolidWorks 3D modeling (sheet metal, surface, and mould design modules).
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication (laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, powder coating, etc.).
• Knowledge of plastic part design – wall thickness, draft, ribs, and gate locations for injection moulding.
• Experience in designing computer or electronic product enclosures preferred.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing drawing standards.
• Good communication, teamwork, and project documentation skills.
Preferred (Optional) Skills:
• Experience with thermal management design, mounting layouts, or structural analysis for electronic housings.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and rendering software like KeyShot or Blender for design visualization.
• Basic understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFMEA practices.
• Exposure to CNC fabrication and mould flow analysis is a plus.
